Though it might take some time to get the hang of it, the Taste of Home Test Kitchen found that the Negg egg peeler is a great way to remove the shell. All you need to do is fill it with a little water, add an egg, shake the peeler a few times and presto! You’ll have peeled egg in no time.
An egg peeler might be easy for budding home cooks to remove the shell, but the professionals have a different approach. At Taste of Home, we roll the egg on our countertop until it’s completely cracked. (The shell should look like mosaic tiles.) From there, we start to peel the egg from the large end of the egg to the thinner side. If you need some reinforcements, try running your egg under cold water.
Looking to peel an egg without a special gadget? We recommend submerging your eggs into ice-cold water after they’re done cooking. The temperature shock causes the egg to contract away from its shell. Simply leave in the cold water for a few minutes and begin to peel.
